Houthis Release Crew of Galaxy Leader Ship

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Houthi armed group announced on Wednesday the release of the crew of the “Galaxy Leader” ship after more than a year of detaining the ship off the coast of Yemen.
Al-Masirah TV channel, affiliated with the Houthis, reported that “the crew of the (Galaxy Leader) ship was released today in coordination with Hamas movement and the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman.”
For its part, the Houthi Supreme Political Council announced the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader ship, indicating that this step comes in support of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The Houthi group had detained the “Galaxy Leader” ship due to its alleged links to “Israel,” along with its crew of 25 members, on November 19, 2023.
The detention of the ship was at the beginning of the group’s campaign against ships linked to or heading to Israel in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, in “solidarity with Gaza” which has been subjected to an Israeli aggression with US support for more than 14 months.
The Galaxy Leader ship, which specializes in transporting cars and flies the Bahamian flag, is owned by Ray Car Cars and managed by NYK.
