Yemeni Army Repels Houthi Attacks on Three Fronts
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Yemeni army announced that it had repelled attempts by Houthi militia to attack its positions on multiple battlefronts over the past few hours.
The Yemeni Ministry of Defense’s website, September Net, quoted unnamed military sources on Wednesday, stating that “groups of Houthi militia attempted to infiltrate towards the positions of government forces in Al-Radhah sector of the Al-Balq front in Ma’rib Governorate (center).”
The sources continued that “government forces targeted these groups and forced them to retreat.”
They added that the army’s artillery “targeted gatherings of Houthi militia vehicles on Al-Balq and Al-Uqd fronts in Ma’rib and destroyed them in response to their attacks.”
They stated that “the Houthi militia continues its hostile mobilization on various fronts in Ma’rib, in addition to its ongoing artillery attacks.”
In the northern Jawf governorate, the same sources said that “government forces foiled a Houthi infiltration attempt in Al-Jadafar sector on Wednesday, inflicting casualties on the group’s elements,” without providing details.
In the context of the renewed battles, the government’s Taiz military axis announced in a statement on Wednesday evening that “fierce clashes took place between government forces and the Houthi militia on the Al-Aqrud front in the Misrakh district southeast of Taiz governorate (southwest).”
It added that “government forces succeeded in foiling an attempt by Houthi elements to infiltrate, resulting in the killing and wounding of their members,” without specifying a number.
With the renewal of the battles, the Houthi group announced over the past 72 hours the death of 24 of its members, most of them officers.
The group said that these were killed in separate confrontations with government forces and the US-led coalition, according to three statements.
