MASAM Removes 639 Mines in One Week Across Six Yemeni Governorates

The “MASAM” project for clearing Yemeni lands of mines managed to remove 639 mines in various parts of Yemen during the second week of January.
MASAM stated that 45 anti-tank mines, 8 anti-personnel mines, 585 unexploded ordnance, and one improvised explosive device were removed.
In detail, the MASAM team in Aden Governorate removed 6 anti-personnel mines, 15 anti-tank mines, and 262 unexploded ordnance.
In Hays district of Hodeidah Governorate, MASAM managed to remove 7 unexploded ordnance and 2 unexploded ordnance in Al-Wahet district of Lahj Governorate.
In Marib Governorate, the team managed to remove 30 anti-tank mines and 291 unexploded ordnance.
In Shabwa, the team removed one anti-personnel mine, one unexploded ordnance, and one improvised explosive device in Osilan district, and one anti-personnel mine and one unexploded ordnance in Ain district.
Additionally, 17 unexploded ordnance were removed in Mokha district and 4 unexploded ordnance in Zabid district of Taiz Governorate.
MASAM stated that the number of mines removed during January 2025 increased to 1,790.
The total number of mines removed since the beginning of the MASAM project until now has reached 478,222 mines, which were randomly planted in various Yemeni lands.
