Sana’a: WhatsApp Summoned to Appear Before West Sana’a Court

A court in Sana’a has summoned the American company WhatsApp, owner of the popular messaging application, to appear before the West Sana’a Governorate Court, following a lawsuit filed against it!

The details of the case are not yet known.

However, according to a document from the court to the Deputy Minister of Justice in the internationally unrecognized Houthi government, the court requested that the group’s foreign ministry deliver a notification to West Sanaa’s request to respond to the lawsuit “through diplomatic channels” by the next session on February 2nd.

The document identified “WhatsApp Inc. California Mountain View, US” as a party to the case, and a Yemeni citizen as the plaintiff.

The document was signed by the Houthi-appointed President of the West Sana’a Governorate Court, “Basim Nu’man Abdu Hamdin”.
