U.S. Military Announces Precision Strikes on Houthi Weapons Storage Facilities
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that it had “conducted precision strikes on underground storage facilities for advanced conventional weapons belonging to the Houthis.”
The U.S. Central Command added in a statement: “The Houthis have used these facilities to launch attacks on our warships and commercial vessels.”
For their part, Houthi media reported that “US and UK aircraft carried out five airstrikes targeting Harf Sfiyan district in Amran Governorate.”
Since November 2023, the Houthis have targeted Israeli and Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip as the group claims .
In response to these attacks, Washington and London began launching airstrikes and missile attacks on Houthi sites in Yemen at the beginning of 2024, resulting in deaths, injuries, and damage to infrastructure.
The group responded by declaring that all US and British ships had become military targets, and expanded its attacks to ships passing through the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean or any place its weapons could reach.
