Missing Yemeni Officer Found in Syria After 12 Years

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The American Center for Justice announced on Sunday that Yemeni student Hassan Mohammed Yahya Al-Waheeb, one of the officers missing in Syria since 2012, has been found.

The center said in a statement that Al-Waheeb was found in a hospital in Damascus in poor physical and psychological condition, requiring medical care and return to his family in Yemen.

It added that the Yemeni government, through its embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman, has made efforts to follow up on the abducted Yemenis and to communicate with the transitional government in Syria to locate Al-Waheeb.

The center called for swift steps to be taken to return him to his country and ensure that he receives the necessary medical and psychological care, and to continue the search for the remaining abductees.

The fate of the remaining missing officers remains unknown: Mohammed Abdu Al-Mulyki, Ali Hussein Salama, Hani Saleh Nizar, Ahmed Ali Radman, and the doctor Riyad Al-Amousi.

The center emphasized the need to intensify efforts by the Yemeni government and the relevant authorities in the transitional government in Syria to uncover their fate and ensure their return home.
