Houthis Deploy Reinforcements to Al-Bayda Amid Fears of Renewed Clashes
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Local sources reported on Tuesday that the Houthi armed group has deployed military reinforcements to Al-Bayda Governorate (central Yemen), amid fears of an escalation in violence and renewed clashes following increasing popular and official movements demanding the restoration of state institutions and the end of the group’s coup.
Amer Al-Homiqani, the official spokesman for Al Homiqan resistance, said, “The armed group has cut off all communication lines in Zaher district and has worked to form secret committees to monitor citizens who oppose them and their movements.”
Houthi group have also dug trenches, built fortifications, and constructed roads for armored vehicles. They have also cut roads in the mountains adjacent to Mount Al-Aar in Yafa’e district, Lahj Governorate (southern Yemen(.
Al Hamiqan tribes had previously risen up against the armed group in a popular resistance in 2019, but were betrayed by forces loyal to the STC, who prevented the delivery of weapons and food after the Houthis imposed a tight siege on the tribes’ villages for several months.
