Elderly Man Severely Injured by Houthi Landmine in Western Yemen
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
A Yemeni human rights observatory announced on Tuesday that an elderly man was severely injured by a Houthi landmine in the coastal district of Midi in Hajjah Governorate (northwestern Yemen).
The Yemeni Mine Observatory (non-governmental) reported that an elderly man named (Thabet Galhuf) suffered severe injuries, including the amputation of both legs, when a Houthi landmine exploded while he was herding livestock (sheep) in the village of Al-Ja’ada in the Midi district of Hajjah Governorate.
It added that Al-Ja’ada is a residential village that suffers from severe contamination and has recorded several incidents of landmine explosions. Engineering teams have been unable to clear it due to the random and dense nature of the mines and the limited capabilities of the clearance and removal teams.
