Al-Arada Calls for Unifying International Stance to Confront Iran’s Destructive Role in Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, has called on Britain to activate its strategic role in the Yemeni file and to work on mobilizing the international community to unify its stance in confronting Iran’s destructive role in Yemen and limiting its aggressive interventions.

This came during his meeting today, Sunday, with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, to discuss the latest developments in the political, economic, and humanitarian situations, and the efforts to achieve comprehensive peace in Yemen.

During the meeting, Al-Arada praised the British support for the government in facing all current challenges, especially the economic and humanitarian aspects, and called for increasing this support to enhance the development path in Yemen, which would improve the economic and living conditions of Yemenis.

Al-Arada emphasized that the continuation of Iranian interventions directly contributes to prolonging the conflict and complicating the humanitarian and economic situations in the country, undermining all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen and reaching a comprehensive, just, and sustainable solution to end the Yemeni crisis and fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people.

He pointed to the “continuation of Iran’s destructive role in Yemen and its insistence on imposing its policies and expansionist ambitions in Yemen through its ongoing support for the Houthis, providing them with various weapons and military technology, and orchestrating these militias to implement its agenda and continue destabilizing security and stability in Yemen and the entire region.”

Al-Arada stressed the necessity of adhering to any regional or international efforts to achieve peace in Yemen to the agreed political solution frameworks for the Yemeni crisis, which are the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and UN Resolution 2216.

During the meeting, he called on Britain to activate its strategic role in the Yemeni file and work to mobilize the international community to unify its stance in confronting Iran’s destructive role in Yemen, as well as to intensify pressure on the Houthi group to compel it to engage positively with the peace process and fulfill its commitments to ensure the security and stability of the region.

For her part, the British Ambassador renewed her country’s commitment to supporting peaceful solutions in Yemen and continuing to work with all parties to support the peace process and restore security and stability, expressing appreciation for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and its keenness to advance the peace process and enhance security and stability across the country.
