Saudi Arabia and Britain Discuss Houthi Attacks in the Red Sea
Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:
Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom have emphasized the importance of ensuring the security and stability of the Red Sea to protect the global economy, amid ongoing attacks launched by the Houthis for over a year.
This came in a joint statement issued at the conclusion of a visit by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to the Kingdom yesterday, Thursday, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Both sides reaffirmed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen and stressed the importance of supporting international and regional efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
They also agreed “on the importance of ensuring the security and stability of the Red Sea region to achieve global economic stability.”
Since November of last year, the Houthis have been launching attacks that they claim target Israeli interests within the occupied Palestinian territories and in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea, as part of what the group says is solidarity with Gaza.
