Drone Likely Launched from Yemen Explodes in Central Israel
Yemen Monitor/AFP
A drone, believed to have been launched from Yemen, exploded on the upper floor of a residential building in the central Israeli city of Yavne on Monday, causing no injuries, according to the Israeli military and emergency services.
The statement, which did not mention any casualties, added that the drone penetrated Israeli airspace “and no alarms were activated. All details of the incident are under investigation” to uncover the reasons for the gaps that allowed a foreign object to enter Israeli airspace without activating the warning system.
Israeli Army Radio reported that “the Air Force’s detection systems did not detect the drone, and therefore no interception attempts were made.”
