Will Israel Respond to the Recent Houthi Attack?
Yemen Monitor/Sana’a/Exclusive:
It remains unclear whether or when Israel will retaliate against the ballistic missile attack launched by the Houthi group on Israeli-occupied territory on Sunday, according to sources from the Hebrew newspaper Jerusalem Post.
The Houthis announced on Sunday that they had targeted a vital objective in the occupied territories. However, the Israeli press reported that the ballistic missile was intercepted outside of “Israeli territory” and that no Israelis were directly killed or injured by the missile, but some fragments fell in certain central areas and a small number of people were injured while rushing to shelters.
The missile triggered sirens across most of the center, as it was not immediately clear where it might strike if it penetrated the occupation’s air defenses.
The Jerusalem Post said that if the Houthis do not attack again, Israel may choose not to retaliate at all.
Israel launched two attacks on the Hodeidah governorate, the first in July and the second in September, resulting in dozens of Yemeni deaths and injuries, and destruction of infrastructure at the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa.
