CENTCOM Thwarts Houthi Attacks on US Destroyers

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces had thwarted Houthi attacks on US destroyers and US-flagged vessels in the Gulf of Aden.

In a statement posted on its official X account today, Monday, CENTCOM said, “The US destroyers USS Stockdale and USS Truxtun successfully defended against a barrage of weapons launched by the Houthis as they transited the Gulf of Aden.”

The statement added, “Between November 30 and December 1, the destroyers were escorting three US-owned and operated commercial vessels flying the US flag. The attacks resulted in no injuries or damage to any civilian or US naval vessels.”

The statement continued, “The destroyers were able to defeat three anti-ship ballistic missiles, three unmanned aerial vehicles, and one anti-ship cruise missile.”

The statement concluded, “These actions reflect US Central Command’s continued commitment to protecting US personnel, regional partners, and international shipping from Iranian-backed Houthi attacks.”

The Houthi group had previously announced in a statement on Sunday evening that they had carried out a precision military operation targeting a US destroyer and three US supply ships.
