Houthis Hail Hezbollah’s ‘Victory’ in Ceasefire Deal

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Houthi armed group on Wednesday praised what it called a “new victory” for Lebanon’s Hezbollah, just hours after a ceasefire agreement with Israel came into effect following over a year of intermittent clashes.

Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam said on X: “We salute the great steadfastness of Hezbollah and the dear Lebanese people in the face of the heinous Israeli aggression. Thanks to this steadfastness… Lebanon was able to achieve a new victory,” adding that the group’s operations “forced the Zionist enemy and its American sponsor to go towards a ceasefire agreement.”

He continued: “We have faith in the choices of the Islamic resistance in Lebanon, and we believe that its wise leadership has been able to regain the initiative in record time despite the great wounds suffered by the resistance body, especially after the assassination of Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.”

Abdul Salam pointed out that “the conflict with the Zionist enemy is an inevitable conflict, and the wars with it are rounds in a conflict that will inevitably end with its demise, God willing.”

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, ending battles that erupted on October 8, 2023, and intensified and expanded in scope since September of the same year.

The Israeli aggression against Lebanon resulted in 3,823 martyrs and 15,859 wounded, including a large number of children and women, in addition to about 1.4 million displaced people. Most of the casualties and displaced were recorded after September 23, according to Anadolu Agency’s monitoring of official Lebanese data until Tuesday evening.
