Mahra Customs Seizes 200 Kilograms of Hashish Hidden in Tree Roots

A security source reported on Wednesday that customs officials at the Mahra Governorate’s shipping port seized 200 kilograms of hashish that was being smuggled to neighboring countries.
The source revealed that the hashish was concealed within the roots of large trees loaded onto a large truck. The drugs had been expertly welded and disguised by specialized criminal gangs.
The arrested suspects, including the Pakistani truck driver, and the seized hashish have been handed over to the shipping security authorities to complete the legal procedures and refer the case to the public prosecution. The estimated value of the seized drugs is substantial.
Mahra’s Director of Security and Police, Brigadier General Mufti Suhail Samudah, commended the customs office’s efforts in combating drug smuggling, which he described as an organized crime with devastating consequences for society.
In a special statement to the Mahra Police Media Center, Brigadier General Samudah emphasized that the seizure dealt a significant blow to the criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, which is estimated to be worth 2 billion. He assured that the investigation will be completed, and the case will be referred to the judiciary for appropriate legal action.
He further affirmed that the fight against drugs will continue unabated and called on everyone to cooperate with the security forces in combating this crime.
