Yemeni National Coalition of Parties Seeks Solutions to Economic Crisis and Lack of Services

The head of the National Coalition of Yemeni Parties and Political Components stated on Tuesday that the Supreme Council’s meeting emphasized the need for a comprehensive political program for the coalition that addresses various societal issues.

In a statement, the council said that its Supreme Council for the National Coalition of Yemeni Parties and Political Components held a meeting, chaired by the coalition’s president and the chairman of the Shura Council, Dr. Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr, to discuss the set agenda and the most prominent national and political issues.

Bin Daghr stressed the importance of preparing a comprehensive political program for the coalition that covers various societal issues and enhances its role as an active entity to achieve the desired change. He also called for the resumption of political life and the promotion of public freedoms in all governorates, while mobilizing efforts to confront the Houthi coup and reject Iranian interference in Yemen.

He emphasized the need to release public freedoms and open the political space for democratic work and respect for political pluralism as fundamental principles of the political system.

The meeting also discussed the economic collapse and the lack of basic services that have burdened citizens. The executive body was tasked with preparing a realistic study that includes practical solutions to these crises, to be presented to the executive authority for addressing.

The meeting also addressed the role of political parties and components as forces carrying the national project, and emphasized the importance of building on past experiences and presenting a new model of effective and independent political work.
