Houthi Threaten German Shipping Companies

The German Ship Owners’ Association has confirmed that the Houthis have sent email threats to German shipping companies in recent months.
According to the Hamburg-based association, the threats were directed at companies whose ships use Israeli ports and pass through waters near Yemen.
Irena Hessler, the association’s director, said: “It is clear that the Houthi rebels have carefully studied email addresses, as they sent threats to individual contacts as well.”
Hessler described the emails as attempts to intimidate them and said the association has contacted security authorities. The number of threat emails received has not been disclosed.
This is not the first time the Houthis have sent threatening messages. More than 12 threat messages were sent to at least six Greek shipping companies earlier, amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
