قال المتحدث الإعلامي باسم وزارة الدفاع الأميركية (البنتاغون)، باتريك رايدر، إن القوات الأميركية شنت ضربات دقيقة في اليومين الماضيين على مرافق تخزين أسلحة داخل الأراضي الخاضعة لسيطرة الحوثيين في اليمن.
وأوضح خلال مؤتمر صحفي، الثلاثاء، أن هذه العمليات جاءت رداً على هجمات متكررة يشنها الحوثيون على سفن الشحن التجاري الدولي وسفن التحالف والسفن التجارية الأميركية في البحر الأحمر.
وأضاف رايدر أن القوات الأميركية “بنجاح” أمس الاثنين، لهجمات متعددة من الحوثيين استهدفت مدمرتين أميركيتين أثناء عبورهما في البحر الأحمر.
وأشار إلى أن الهجوم تم بثمانية مسيرات وخمسة صواريخ باليستية مضادة للسفن وثلاثة صواريخ “كروز” مضادة للسفن و قد تم إسقاط الصواريخ دون ان يلحق بالمدمرتين اي أضرار .
كذلك، نفى رايدر مزاعم الحوثيين بشأن استهداف حاملة الطائرات “أبراهام لينكلن”.
وبخصوص أي تغييرات محتملة مع الإدارة الأميركية الجديدة، قال رايدر إن “لا علم لديه بأي اجتماعات في البنتاغون بشأن القرارات المحتملة التي قد تتخذها الإدارة القادمة”.
وتابع أن وزير الدفاع لويد أوستن أكد “ضمان انتقال هادئ ومنظم ومهني إلى إدارة ترامب”.
