Houthis Vow Readiness for US Escalation

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi has affirmed his group’s readiness for any potential escalation from Washington and the Israeli occupation.

In a televised speech broadcast on Al-Masirah TV channel, al-Houthi stated, “The Yemeni front continues to support and maintain its stance towards Gaza, and has not submitted or retreated despite the pressure and aggression of the US, Israel, and Britain.”

He added, “We are on a practical path, preparing for any level of escalation that the US and Israel may resort to.”

He further stated, “Our naval operations (against ships) and the shelling of the Israeli enemy with missiles and drones towards occupied Palestine continue.”

He considered that, “At the peak of the battle and with what we are witnessing of the horrific Zionist crimes, our front is present, ongoing, and effective.”

The Houthis have targeted more than 190 commercial ships with missiles and drones since the start of the war in Gaza in October. They seized one ship and sank two in the campaign, which also resulted in the death of four sailors.

Coalition forces led by the US have also intercepted other missiles and drones in the Red Sea or failed to reach their targets, which included Western military vessels.

In response, the US and Britain have been conducting a campaign of airstrikes against Houthi group supported by Iran since January 11. As a result, the Houthis have announced an expansion of their operations to include US and British ships.
