Yemeni Meteorological Center Warns of Varying Intensity Rains and Strong Winds on Eastern Coasts

Yemen Monitor/Weather Forecast:

The National Meteorological Center in Yemen issued a warning on Tuesday about varying intensity thunderstorms and strong winds on the eastern coasts of the country and the Gulf of Aden.

The meteorological center indicated partly cloudy to cloudy skies with varying intensity thunderstorms in parts of Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Al Dhalea, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Hajjah, and western Sa’ada governorates, and parts of the highlands of Mahra, Hadhramaut, Shabwah, and Abyan governorates.

In coastal areas, partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected with varying intensity thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in the eastern Gulf of Aden, the coasts of Mahra and Hadhramaut governorates, and parts of the Socotra Archipelago, as well as scattered rains with occasional thunder in parts of the Tihama plain, western and southern coasts.

It noted clear to partly cloudy skies with scattered rains in parts of the deserts of Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, and Shabwah, with moderate winds that may become active at times, causing dust and sand.

The meteorological center warned fishermen and sailors of rough seas and high waves in the eastern Gulf of Aden, eastern coasts, and the Socotra Archipelago.

It advised citizens to avoid valleys, riverbeds, and bridges during and after rainfall and thunderstorms and recommended taking precautions.

Drivers were warned of reduced visibility on roads and mountain slopes due to fog, mist, or low clouds.
