Local sources have reported that forces loyal to Tarık Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, have arrested a journalist in the city of al-Mukhā, in western Yemen.
Sources indicated that “a security force consisting of three vehicles arrested journalist Adel al-Nuzili from his home in the city’s residential area in al-Mukhā district, which is under the control of the National Resistance Forces on the western coast, based on (high-level directives.(”
According to the sources, “al-Nuzili was transferred to the control center of the coastal security sector for these forces, and after several hours, the journalist was handed over to another security force that transferred him to a detention facility called ‘al-Qanuniyah’ in al-Khukha district.”
This is not the first time that forces loyal to the Emirati-backed Tarık Saleh have harassed and arrested activists and journalists. Numerous violations have been previously documented in areas under their control, following criticism and opinions expressed by activists against these forces and their leadership.
