Yemeni Meteorological Center Forecasts Cool Weather with Potential for Heavy Rainfall

Yemen Monitor/Weather Forecast

The National Meteorological Center in Yemen forecast on Wednesday that the sky will be clear to partly cloudy with cold weather especially during the early morning hours, with a possibility of varying levels of thunderous rainfall in the coming hours.

The meteorology center indicated that rainfall is expected in parts of the governorates of Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Rima, Mahwit, Hajjah, and western Saada, and scattered rainfall is expected in parts of the governorates of Abyan, al-Dhale’a, western Dhamar, and the inland highlands adjacent to the eastern coast.

In coastal areas, the meteorology center expects partly cloudy skies with scattered rainfall accompanied by occasional thunder in parts of the Tihama plain, the western coast, and the Socotra Archipelago. Winds are expected to be moderate to active around Socotra Archipelago, ranging between 10-20 knots, and moderate to occasionally active along the rest of the coast.

In desert areas, the meteorology center indicated partly cloudy skies with moderate winds causing dust and sandstorms.

The meteorology center warned citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to avoid low-lying areas and valleys during and after rainfall and thunderstorms.

It also warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall and the formation of thick cumulus clouds.
