Shabwah’s 5th Book Fair Opens

The Governor of Shabwah, Awad bin Al-Wazir, inaugurated the 5th Shabwah Book Fair on Saturday. Organized by the General Authority for Books, Publishing, and Distribution in the governorate, in coordination with the Culture Office, the fair will run for six days with active participation from various publishing houses.

The governor, along with the President of Shabwah University, Tawfiq Basarda, the Assistant Deputy Governor, Salem Al-Nasi, and the Director of the Culture Office, Faisal Al-Baisi, toured the exhibition’s pavilions.

He commended the level of organization and categorization according to the specialization in each field of science and knowledge. He also noted the number of publishing houses participating in the fair, appreciating the efforts of those organizing the event and the high turnout, which reflects the community’s love for books, reading, and learning.

The Governor of Shabwah praised the cultural activities taking place in the governorate, affirming their role in reshaping the cultural scene at the national level.

He also directed that the requests of researchers and students for books and references needed for their research and higher studies be funded by the local authority.

For his part, the Director-General of the General Authority for Books Branch in the governorate, Khaled Faraj, explained that the fair is attended by 22 national and Arab publishing houses with more than 150,000 books.
