The United Nations stated on Tuesday that its resident humanitarian coordinator in Yemen had traveled to Hodeidah Governorate to assess the situation following Israeli attacks on two major ports and power stations.
UN spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, announced in the daily press briefing that UN humanitarian partners reported that both Hodeidah and Ras Issa ports remain operational and capable of receiving commercial and humanitarian supplies.
Dujarric reported that the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, David Gressly, had traveled to Hodeidah to assess the situation and the UN’s ongoing efforts to provide food and nutrition amid growing needs, particularly along Yemen’s western coast.
The UN spokesperson, quoting the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), added that power stations across Hodeidah City are operating at very limited capacity, and fuel is being distributed to health facilities to keep their generators running so they can continue providing healthcare services to those in need.
Last Sunday, the Israeli occupation forces, for the second time after their July attack, targeted the coastal city of Hodeidah, hitting critical infrastructure including Hodeidah Port, Ras Issa Port, and power stations. The city, controlled by the Houthi group, witnessed more than 15 Israeli airstrikes, resulting in the death and injury of nearly 50 people.
