A human rights group revealed today, Tuesday, that detainees inside the central prison in Sana’a have been subjected to torture by Houthi armed group members.
The Association of Mothers of the Abducted said it had received a report from families of detainees in Sana’a central prison stating that they had been subjected to torture, denied food and visits, and prevented from communicating with their families. In addition, a group of them had been placed in solitary confinement in the “mental health ward” – where the mentally ill are held – and others had been held in a “pressure cell” where they are held in harsh conditions that do not allow them to move or breathe normally.
The association stated that while it condemns these gross violations against our sons in the central prison, which pose a serious threat to the lives and safety of our sons by the Houthi group, we hold them fully responsible for their psychological and physical safety.
It called on all honorable people in Yemen and all local and international human rights organizations to intervene urgently to stop these ongoing violations against our abducted sons and to pressure for their unconditional release.
