Houthis’ leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi claimed on Saturday that his group possesses a sophisticated military arsenal that many countries lack.

The statement was made in a televised speech marking the 10th anniversary of what the group calls the “September 21, 2014 Revolution,” referring to the date they seized control of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, and several northern provinces.

Al-Houthi stated, “We possess a sophisticated military arsenal that many countries do not have, with the missile force being a vital and effective aspect of this military build-up.”

He added, “Our country has reached an advanced level in the field of drones and naval forces, as well as in the formation and development of ground forces.”

Al-Houthi considered the “missile force” to be a “striking military arm” for the Yemeni people in confronting their enemies and the enemies of the Islamic nation.

He went on to say, “The revolution, in reference to his group’s coup against the Yemeni state institutions, has established a military and industrial force that has overcome many challenges.”

Al-Houthi revealed that nearly half a million military trainees have joined the group’s ranks since the war in  Gaza, noting that “there are also hundreds of thousands who have previously trained as part of the military formation.”

The Houthis have been targeting ships they claim are linked to Israel in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea with missiles and drones. With US and British involvement through a coalition carrying out strikes on Houthi positions and tensions escalating in January, the Houthi group announced that they now consider all US and British ships to be military targets.
