Local sources reported on Friday that several people were killed and injured in clashes between tribal gunmen in Shabwah Governorate, eastern Yemen.
The sources indicated that “the clashes erupted between gunmen from the Al-Muhyqan Bani Ayub tribe in Marakha al-Aliya district, resulting in the death of at least five people and the injury of two others due to a dispute over a piece of land.”
According to the sources, the situation remains tense as a result of the clashes that have left casualties.
Residents of Shabwah complain about the state of insecurity that has reached their governorate, which has contributed to the revival of tribal vendettas that were almost extinct among the tribes.
Residents say that the governorate is experiencing the worst security breakdown, confirming that it has witnessed a series of major incidents since the appointment of parliamentarian Awad bin al-Wazir al-Awlaqi as governor of the governorate, succeeding the former governor Muhammad bin Edoy, in December 2021.
