Yemen Monitor/ Al-Mahwit/ Exclusive:
Sources reported late Tuesday/Wednesday that nearly 30 people are missing, dead, or injured as a result of three dams bursting due to heavy rains and flash floods in Malhan district, west of Al-Mahwit governorate, northwest of Sana’a.
Sources and residents told Yemen Monitor that more than 12 houses, nine of which were home to dozens of people, were swept away by floods in Al-Qabla Hamdan area.
Several families are still trapped under the rubble. As of now, 24 people have been swept away by the floods.
The water from the small dams also swept away cars, houses, and farmland in the area, and all major roads leading to the district have been cut off.
A security source said that residents are trying to rescue families from under the rubble of houses that have collapsed due to landslides, and their neighbors are trying to rescue them.
The sources called on all the districts connected to Malhan valleys, which are the districts of Hodeidah governorate (west), Al-Qanawes, Al-Zaydiyah, and Al-Maglaf Ad-Dhi, to evacuate their homes
