The National Meteorology Center predicted on Saturday that heavy thunderstorms will continue to lash several governorates in the coming hours.

The weather bulletin stated that heavy to very heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail and downdrafts are expected to continue over the Tihama Plain and the coasts of Hodeidah, Hajjah, and Taiz, as well as the highlands of Saada, Hajjah, Mahwit, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, and Al-Dhalea.

The bulletin also forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms in Mahra, Hadhramaut, Shabwah, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Aden, Lahj, Al-Jawf, and Ma’rib governorates.

Citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall were warned to avoid valleys, flood channels, and bridges, and to be cautious of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail.

The center also warned of reduced visibility due to rain and fog, as well as rock-falls on roads and mountain slopes.

Furthermore, it alerted of the collapse of mud-brick and traditional buildings due to the persistent rainfall.

The center urged relevant government authorities to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and to follow its bulletins and reports.
