15 STC Soldiers Killed in a Suicide Bombing in Southern Yemen

Fifteen soldiers from the Southern Transitional Council (STC) were killed and others injured in a car bomb explosion in the Modya district of Abyan governorate, southern Yemen.
Local sources reported that “a Toyota vehicle driven by a suicide bomber suspected of belonging to Al-Qaeda broke into Al-Fariedh school east of Modya district, where STC forces are stationed.”
The sources indicated that “the explosion was massive as there was a fuel tanker near the site, which also exploded, resulting in a large number of casualties.”
The explosion targeted a military barracks belonging to the 3rd Support Battalion. Forces cordoned off the area after the explosion and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals.
