Yemeni Monitor/Newsroom
The internationally recognized Yemeni government officially approved the launch of Starlink satellite internet service in Yemen on Tuesday.
The decision was made during a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak in the temporary capital, Aden.
According to the official Yemeni News Agency, the meeting reviewed a report presented by the General Corporation for Telecommunications regarding the details of the license signed with Starlink and the services that will be provided through the corporation as an authorized agent for the service.
The corporation confirmed in its report that all procedures related to launching Starlink services in Yemen have been finalized, which will enable the provision of high-speed satellite internet service at competitive prices for all segments.
The meeting noted that a comprehensive launch of all Starlink services will soon be implemented through the corporation’s sales points distributed across most governorates. These points will provide a full range of services, including device sales, activation, subscription fee payments, and direct technical support.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that all Starlink devices used by current users or any other entities must be registered and that all required user data, which has been introduced into Yemeni territory illegally, must be provided. Users are requested to meet the necessary conditions to rectify their current status before legal action is taken against violators during the registration period, which will be announced through official channels.
