Yemeni President: The Roadmap Consists of Three Phases

Yemen Monitor / Al-Mukalla / Special:

On Tuesday, Rashad Al-Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, revealed that the United Nations-supported roadmap for Yemen is composed of three main phases.

This was stated by Al-Alimi during a speech at a meeting with political party leaders in Hadhramaut province in eastern Yemen, according to the official news agency (Saba).

Al-Alimi said: “Although most of the provisions of the roadmap have become widely circulated in the media, the militias continue to propagate a misleading narrative regarding its contents.”

He explained: “The roadmap begins with a ceasefire, followed by economic and humanitarian measures to build trust in the first phase. In the second phase, it is supposed to lead to a Yemeni dialogue to formulate the foundations for a new transitional period in the third phase.”

He did not provide further details.

Al-Alimi pointed out what he described as “the dominance of frustrating narratives regarding the council’s position on regional and international mediation efforts to de-escalate the economic situation, after the Houthi militias opted for a strategy of complicating the situation in the region under the influence of the Iranian regime.”

Last week, Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, announced the agreement between the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the Houthi group on measures to de-escalate the economic and banking situation and to expand direct flights from Sana’a to include Cairo and India
