Yemen Monitor/ Dhamar / Exclusive:
Local sources reported to Yemen Monitor on Saturday that there were casualties in a military campaign launched by the Houthi armed group targeting a village in Dhamar Governorate, south of Sanaa.
The sources stated that there were casualties on both sides in clashes between the residents of “Al-Zor village” in (Mekhlaf Thuwban), belonging to Al-Hada district, when the Houthis attempted to invade the village and kidnap its inhabitants.
The sources did not specify the extent of the losses on both sides as the clashes were still ongoing at the time of writing (midnight Saturday/Sunday).
The Houthis requested additional reinforcements to the area in an attempt to completely control the village, after kidnapping a number of children and elderly people from the outskirts of the village and looting money and property.
The reasons for the clashes are still unknown. The Houthis typically refuse to comment on events in areas under their control.
