The Supreme Security Committee has suspended Yosran Al-Maqtri, the head of the Counterterrorism Unit in Aden, who is affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, for his involvement in the kidnapping of Lieutenant Colonel Ali A’shal Al-Ja’adani, an officer from Abyan province.

This came during a meeting of the Supreme Security Committee chaired by the committee’s head, Minister of Defense in the Yemeni government, Mohsen Mohammed Al-Da’eri, in the temporary capital Aden, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

According to the agency, the Supreme Security Committee discussed the circumstances and developments of the kidnapping of Lieutenant Colonel Ali A’shal and the measures taken by the security services to uncover the perpetrators and release the hostage.

The Security Committee condemned the kidnapping of Lieutenant Colonel A’shal in a statement and decided to take several decisions related to the case of the kidnapped Al-Ja’adani, including suspending Yosran Al-Maqtri from work and referring him for investigation, and issuing a warrant for the arrest of the following: “Samih Eidrous Al-Nourji – Tamam Muhammad Ghaleb Hassan “Al-Bata” – Bakil Mukhtar Muhammad Sa’ad – Mahmoud Othman Saeed Al-Hindi.”

The committee stressed that cutting off roads does not benefit or serve the case (in reference to cutting off the international road between Aden and Abyan), calling on the Minister of Interior and the Governor of Abyan, the head of the security committee in the province, and the Director of Abyan Security to sit with the citizens to explain the circumstances of the case.

The committee stressed the need to unify the efforts of the security formations and agencies in Aden to reach the desired results quickly. The committee also decided to hand over the suspects to Aden Security, form a joint investigation committee from Aden Security, Abyan Security, Criminal Investigation, the Security Belt, Intelligence, and the Counterterrorism Unit, arrest all suspects in all crimes, search for fugitives from justice, and involve the Public Prosecution to oversee the investigations, expedite the completion of procedures, and refer them to the judiciary.
