Sana’a Airport Director Announces Return of Hajj and Jordan Flights

Khaled al-Shaif, the general director of Sana’a International Airport, which is under Houthi control, said that flights that will turn back the remaining pilgrims to Sana’a International Airport are scheduled to start today, Friday.

Al-Shaif indicated in press statements that air flights from Sana’a to Jordan will resume its operation from next Saturday, July 6, 2024.

On Thursday, the Houthi armed group agreed to return the Yemeni Airlines planes that were hijacked last month, according to a source in the Yemeni government told “Yemeni Monitor”.

The source added that Omani mediation succeeded in reaching an agreement that stipulates that the Houthis release the hijacked planes at Sana’a Airport and resume operation of Sana’a-Amman flights.

According to the source, a plane is scheduled to take off from Sana’a Airport to Jeddah to transfer the rest of the stranded pilgrims in the holy land.

At the end of June, the Houthis seized three Yemeni Airlines planes at Sana’a Airport that were carrying pilgrims and were prevented from returning to Jeddah Airport. In addition to a fourth plane that was being held by the Houthis.
