Houthi media: New US and British airstrikes target Hodeidah airport in western Yemen

Houthi-affiliated media reported on Wednesday that US and British aircraft carried out several airstrikes on Hodeidah International Airport, a civilian airport located on the Red Sea coast in western Yemen.

Al-Masirah TV, the mouthpiece of the Houthis, said that US -British warplanes targeted the airport in four airstrikes over a 24-hour period, without providing further details.

Earlier, the group’s military spokesman said that the Houthis had targeted a US ship called “Pinocchio” in the Red Sea with sea-launched missiles, claiming a direct hit.

On Tuesday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the Houthi group had fired a ballistic missile at the USS Lapon in the Red Sea, but that it missed the ship and caused no material or human damage.

Since November, the Houthis have continued their attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In response, the US-UK airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen and have re-designated the group as a terrorist organization, following their attacks on commercial vessels.
