Liberian cargo vessel reports two explosions in Red Sea

A cargo vessel bearing the Liberian flag reported two explosions while sailing in the vicinity of Zubair Island in the Red Sea, according to an advisory note from British maritime security company Ambrey on Friday.

According to the intelligence firm, following the explosions, the ship ceased transmitting its automatic tracking signals.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Friday that they were aware of heightened uncrewed aerial system (UAS) activity within 30nm radius centered to west of Yemen’s Hodeidah.

There are currently no indications that commercial vessels are the intended target, it added in an advisory note.
